The Fire Block takes its name from a block of grazing land that was annexed from the original property due to fears that the new steam train travelling through the Clare Valley might spark paddock fires. There is no evidence to suggest that this happened! The vineyard was planted in 1926 and is operated on traditional dry land farming techniques. Totally opaque, black, dark crimson red colour with very deep, dark crimson red hue. The nose displays top notes of blackberry, liquorice, confectionary and spice. Full in body, the palate possesses opulent levels of fruit displaying flavours of liquorice, blackberry, dark plum and spice, with some blackpepper on the back palate. Very fine grained tannins with long aftertaste of liquorice, blackberry and blackpepper.
Drink over the next 3-4 years. (2010-2014)
Alc 15.2%
