The name 'Dowie Doole' is generally acknowledged as being a rather unfortunate name for a bottle of wine. Frankly, we didn't like the name when we first promoted the wine in 2004 and still don't. It seems that we're not the only ones, wine writer Huon Hooke commenting, "… not even the most coke addled advertising executive could have come up with the name Dowie Doole". However, it's here to stay, so long as the pair continue making excellent wines. Norm Doole is a former Vice President of the National Bank of Canada and Drew Dowie is one of South Australia’s most successful winery architects. Both men and their partners own vineyards.

Outstanding, super saturated, black crimson red colour with very deep, black crimson hue. The nose is a sniffers delight with a perfumed, aromatic profile of ripe blackberry, liquorice, mocha, dark chocolate, vanilla and confectionary showing superb intensity. Magnificently opulent and rich the palate delivers explosive flavours of ripe blackberry, liquorice and mocha followed by some vanillin confectionary and spice. Silky smooth, perfectly integrated tannins with very long aftertaste of blackberry, mocha, liquorice and vanillin confectionary.
