2008 d'Arenberg The Laughing Magpie Shiraz Viognier Museum Release

A blend of 94% Shiraz and 6% Viognier co-fermented together with maturation taking place in French and American oak barriques for 10 months.

The colour is holding up exceptionally well displaying an impenetrable black dark red core with a deep very dark red hue. Scents of liquorice, dark plums and faint hints of dried apricot ascend from the glass with blackberry, hints of dark chocolate and spicy vanillin oak also evident. Still packing a ton of fruit the rich, full bodied, opulently textured palate dishes up a generous flavour profile of blackberries, liquorice and dark plums over spicy vanillin cedar with traces of dried apricot and leather also apparent. Ripe chewy tannins with a long conclusion of ripe blackberries, liquorice, dark plums, spicy vanillin oak and faint nuances of emerging leather.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
