As evidenced by the 2008 Coonawarra reds released to date, the 2008 vintage is proving to be an exceptional one. Ideal weather with a dry summer allowed the vines to rebound better than expected from the frosts that affected the previous vintage. Warm weather in early March bought vintage forward in turn providing winemakers with an extended ripening period allowing the fruit to be picked at optimum ripeness.

A magnificent Bowen Shiraz reminiscent of some of the classic Bowen’s produced in the Estate’s golden era of the 1990’s.

Still family owned and operated by Doug and Joy Bowen, this small Coonawarra vineyard has been evolving over the past 35 years and now involves their daughter, Emma. The family's Shiraz has been a long time favourite of ours, although it's been some time since we've tasted it this good. Tatsing Note...
Maturation took place in American oak barriques for approximately 22 months. Opaque black crimson colour with very deep dark crimson red hue. Perfumed aromas of liquorice allsorts, blackberry and confectionary followed by a hint of vanillin spice. The palate displays a level of richness, weight and concentration that’s not very often associated with Coonawarra Shiraz. Full bodied, ripe and opulent with flavours of blackberry, liquorice allsorts, black plum and confectionary with a spicy peppery back palate. Very fine grained well balanced tannins with long aftertaste of blackpepper, blackberry and confectionary.
Cellar 3-4 years (2013-2014)
