2008 Balgownie Estate Black Label Shiraz

A blend of 98% Shiraz and 2% Viognier. Totally opaque, inky, black crimson colour with very deep, black crimson hue. The nose displays youthful aromas of inky, dark plum and blackberry followed by a touch of aniseed and some blackpepper end notes. Full bodied but still very youthful and somewhat unevolved, the palate displays flavours of blackberry, liquorice, toast and blackpepper. Fine grained, slightly dryish tannins with aftertaste of liquorice, toast and blackpepper. The toast component is a little too prominent at present.
