“It would be difficult to imagine a more powerful statement of the region.” - James Halliday

Aramis is a 64 acre estate, located at the bottom of McLaren Vale, just 2km away from the coast of the Gulf of St. Vincent. Its steep southerly aspect protects the vines from the intense afternoon sun and allows the entire vineyard to enjoy the cooling sea breeze that comes in from the south west. In fact, it is ranked as one of the coolest sites in the Vale, a boon in a heat wave vintage like 2008. The wines typically offer a balance of rich primary fruit whilst maintaining a sense of elegance, however in 2008 the profile is at the heavier, riper end of the spectrum delivering a flavour packed Shiraz.
We'd have to agree. A quintessential McLaren Vale Shiraz.

Saturated inky black crimson red colour with deep black crimson hue. The nose displays an intense aromatic profile at the dark end of the spectrum. Ripe blackberry, liquorice and dark chocolate scents are followed by some cedar and spice end notes. Opulent, rich and concentrated the palate delivers mouthfilling flavours of ripe blackberry and liquorice followed by some dark chocolate, vanillin cedar and spice. Slightly firmish but perfectly balanced tannins. Superb depth with long ripe blackcurrant, dark chocolate and spicy cedar aftertaste.
