Occasionally, Warrabilla have some parcels of wine that don’t quite fit into their Reserve or Parola’s labels. These parcels are isolated and bottled to be released under the Brimin Series label. This process essentially the same as the one successfully employed by Domaines Tatiarra and Curly Flat. Brimin draws strong parralels with Tatiarra's 'Culled Barrel' and Curly Flat's 'Williams Crossing' releases. The aim is to preserve the integrity of the flagship wines, whilst offering outstanding value.
This is the first time that a Durif has been released under this label. Andrew Sutherland Smith explains “The Brimin is our entry level red, so its a great challenge for those who think that big is bad. The name comes from the Parish of Brimin which is where we are, and I guess it sort of suits our style (Brimmin' with colour tannin and flavour). We've had a few of them over the years, and it does tend to be a bit earlier drinking than the bigger stuff, I wouldn't be looking to age it, but it does have a few years in it ...It is a Wobbly Villa after all!.”
Loaded with flavour Warrabilla’s Brimin Series Durif over delivers in the value stakes.
Opaque black purple colour with black purple hues and excellent glass cling. Lifted notes of Morello cherry, dark chocolate, liquorice allsorts vanilla and confectionary displaying good intensity. The palate offers Warrabilla’s trademark weight and richness without the monumental power of the Reserve or Parola’s labels. Rich ripe flavours of morello cherry, liquorice, dark chocolate, ripe plum, vanilla and confectionary. Fine grained tannins. Long aftertaste of Morello cherry, spice and vanilla. A very impressive third tier wine, slightly more civilised than flagship Warrabilla, but nonetheless great value. Unfortunately stocks are very limited.
