2007 Shaw & Smith Shiraz

Maturated in new (one third) and older French oak barriques for 14 months. Opaque black crimson colour with dark crimson hue. Perfumed nose displaying aromas of dark plum, violets, liquorice allsorts and confectionary with a smoky overlay - quite an intense sniff. The palate is generous but at the same time refined displaying a sense of elegance. Flavours of ripe dark plum, blackberry and liquorice allsorts followed by some confectionary and spice characters. Very fine grained tannin structure with long aftertaste of blackberry, liquorice and blackpepper. A top Adelaide Hills Shiraz and benchmark for the region.
