Red Claw is a second label from the Mornington Peninsula based 'Yabby Lake Vineyard' (hence the namesake). In 1999 the Kirby's also purchased a site on Heathcote's ancient Cambrian soils with the aim of producing a top notch Shiraz.

This excellent Heathcote effort was matured in a combination of 90% French and 10% American oak of which 30% was new for a period of 18 months. Opaque black dark crimson purple colour with deep dark crimson purple hue. Perfumed aromas of ripe blackberry, black plum, dark chocolate, liquorice and confectionary. The palate is full bodied displaying a voluptuous joosy texture with mouthflling flavours of ripe blackberry, dark plum and liquorice with some confectionary and spice on the back palate. Excellent length and concentration. Velvet smooth tannins, perfectly integrated, with long aftertaste of blackberry, liquorice, spice and blackpepper.
Drink over the next 3-4 years (2010-2014)
