Martinborough is the oldest and best known wine area within the Wairarapa region, with over thirty wineries located around the picturesque township located at the foot of New Zealand's North Island, just 1.5 hours drive from Wellington. Historically, the district is notable for some of New Zealand's first Pinot Noir and Shiraz wines of any considerable quality. Unfortunately, at the time, Prohibitionist sentiment had settled in the region and the promise that early ventures showed was abruptly cut short. Pencarrow is the second wine of Palliser Estate.

Bright deep crimson colour with crimson mauve hue. Lifted nose of cherry, liquorice, game and strawberry. The palate has good length with flavours of spice, cherry and liquorice. Moderate power wave. Spicy oak background. Long aftertaste of spice and cherry showing distinct varietal character.
Cellar 3-4 years (2011-2012)
Alc/Vol: 14.0%
