The fruit for this wine is sourced from Kaesler’s vineyards planted in 1899 and 1965. Maturation took place in a combination of French oak (30% new Allier oak & 30% new Vosge oak with a medium to heavy toast), as well as 2 and 3 year old American oak. The wine was bottled without fining or filtration.

Magnificent totally opaque black purple colour with black heart and very deep black dark red hue. Aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry, liquorice and confectionary with some light vanillin end notes. The palate displays formidable weight and concentration with flavours of liquorice, blackberry, aniseed and confectionary with a smoky overlay and some blackpepper on the back palate. Very fine grained perfectly integrated tannins with long aftertaste of liquorice, smoky oak and blackpepper.
Cellar 4-5 years (2014-2015).
Alc 15.5 %
