Glaymond's vineyards are part of a fifth generation family estate, first planted in 1961 by Gerhard Tscharke, though the family traditionally operated a mixed farm and stud piggery. Things probably wouldn't have changed if young Damien Tscharke had been satisfied with a life on the farm. After been introduced to winemaking & viticulture at University, his eyes were opened to the untapped potential of the family's site (already a reliable source of 'A' grade fruit for Rockford, Peter Lehmann and Penfolds). When Damien inherited the vineyard from his father, he realised he'd be a fool not to try to make a go of it. It's not an easy thing to break with tradition, but since 2001 Tscharke's never looked back. His Glaymond collection continues to impress, even in challenging vintages like 2007.

Not just about sheer size and ripe fruit – these wines possess a structure and power wave of flavour that are the envy of many other Barossa producers.
Opaque black dark red colour displaying excellent glass cling and colour saturation with dark red hue. The nose is a touch closed at present, eventually revealing aromas of dark plum, spice and blackberry with some confectionary and liquorice end notes. The palate is a Shiraz concentrate with flavours of liquorice, dark plum and blackberry followed by some spice, confectionary and blackpepper on the back palate. Although slightly tighter than previous vintages the wine still delivers tremendous power. Fine grained tannins in perfect balance. Exceptionally long persistent aftertaste of blackpepper, spice, blackberry and liquorice allsorts.
