Douglas Laing’s Provenance Single Malts are bottled exactly as the distiller intended – without colouring and without chill filtration, so that the naturally present oils, fats and enzymes in the Whisky are allowed to make their own special contribution to the nose, mouthfeel, palate and finish. This particular expression from the Dailuaine Distillery has spent 9 years maturing in a Sherry butt. Distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2016.

Tasting note: Very pale straw tinge / almost water like. Offers attractive cereal, oatmeal, weet-bix-like aromas. Later a touch of cocoa. 4-5 minutes air contact softens and sweetens the bouquet yielding pleasing scents of apple/cinnamon yoghurt and stewed pear. A sweet grassy – cereal character to the palate. Deliciously clean and fresh. Hay bail and cocoa to finish. Interesting profile for a Sherry butt. 46% Alc./Vol.

Never easy to find, many whisky lovers remain ignorant of the existence of this Speyside gem. Owned by Diageo, Dailuaine (pronounced "dal-u-ayn") forms a major part of Dewar's blends thanks to its robust flavours, but is also released in smaller quantities as a single malt. The house style is often compared with Benrinnes, being typically "meaty, big, boisterous, and sherried."
