A sophisticated blend of 63% Semillon and 37% Sauvignon Blanc which has been fermented on wild yeast with 32% being fermented and matured in new French oak. This wine is an Australian interpretation of the dry white wines of Graves. One doesn’t get that nose lifting ‘whiff’ that you experience from Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Here there is restrained yeast lees and grassy ripe gooseberry, modified with a hint of new oak. The palate is the real treat in this wine, delivering plenty of body weight and freshness. Flavours of grapefruit over a grassy unripe gooseberry and lemon background of lees. The lemon flavours are dominant, supported by crisp but balanced acidity. Aftertaste of lemon and gooseberry.
Cellar 2-3 years (2009-2010)
