Value for money, the Boundary Rider Shiraz has taken a huge leap over the 2006 Vintage.

At $20 this big full bodied red would represent great value, at $10 it’s a giveaway.

Why sell short you might ask? The answer lies in the marketing strategy of a handful of long term thinking winemakers. The reasoning goes something like this “it's better to make a small margin during the current economic downturn than to make no margin at all and more importantly it is very prudent to maintain market share.” This all sounds a little complex, but staying in business for the long haul is a tricky business in its own right.

Black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Top note of spice followed by liquorice, ripe plum, blackberry and vanilla. Full bodied palate flavours of spice, black pepper and plum with a hint of mint. Fine grained tannins. Some nuances of mocha emerge. Aftertaste of liquorice and plum with very long lingering black pepper and spice.
Cellar 2-3 years (2011-2012)
