2006 Shelmerdine Heathcote Shiraz

1% Viognier has been co-fermented with the Shiraz. Deep crimson red purple colour with mauve crimson hue – not as super saturated as some of the top examples from the region are capable of delivering. Aromas of liquorice allsorts, confectionary, ripe blackberry and stewed plum. Medium bodied with restrained flavours of blackberry, plum and mineral. Relatively lean and lacking depth. Dry chalky tannins followed by a crisp short finish with an aftertaste of mineral and stewed plum.
