2006 Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon

The Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon is a multi-district blend largely from the south east of South Australia - specifically, the Limestone Coast (including Coonawarra and Robe) and Bordertown.
The wine was matured for 12 months in French and American hogsheads, 15% new with the balance in older oak.
Totally opaque black purple colour with black purple hue, showing excellent cling to the glass wall. The nose is perfumed with distinctive Cabernet varietal character. Cassis, blackcurrant and spice with a hint of liquorice. The palate is tightly knit and supported by fine dry tannins in balance to the fruit but persistent. Aftertaste of blackcurrant and cedar.
