2006 Nautilus Awatere River Vineyard Pinot Noir

A complex Pinot showing some development. Produced form Pinot clones 114, 667 and 777, the vines have been trellised on a 2 cane VSP (vertical shoot position) trellis and matured for 15 months in new and 1 year old French oak.

Semi translucent crimson colour with brick red hue. Complex nose with truffle and earth top notes followed by violet and spice showing good varietal character and depth. Good palate weight with a very good power wave. Flavours of cherry and spice followed by a hint of earth and anise. Fine grained tannins. Excellent balance. Very long aftertaste of cherry, anise, truffle and spice.
