2006 Murray Street Vineyards Sophia Shiraz

This wine is named as a tribute to winemaker Andrew Seppelt’s great, great grandmother, Sophia Seppelt, who was the unsung strength behind the success of the Seppelt family wine enterprise in the early 1900’s. Matured for 22 months in new and old French and American oak.

Totally opaque saturated inky black dark crimson red colour with very deep black crimson hue. The nose displays perfumed top notes of liquorice allsorts, dark chocolate and confectionary with some vanillin spice end notes. Rich, very concentrated and possessing a voluptuous texture the palate delivers a generous mouthfilling flavour experience of liquorice, ripe blackberry, dark chocolate, vanilla and spice. Velvet smooth tannins. Superb depth and persistence with very long aftertaste of ripe blackberry, liquorice, dark chocolate and vanillin spice.
