Craven's Place is the second label of the Heathcote Winery, which was established in 1978, and was one of the first commercial wineries in Heathcote. The Craven's label is a tribute to early pioneer and entrepreneur Thomas Craven who established a general store in Heathcote during the 1850’s to cater for the needs of gold miners seeking their fortune in the region. Today the general store is Heathcote Winery’s cellar door.

“Fantastic Value! Following on from the 2006 Tyrrell’s Rufus Stone this is another very impressive, inexpensive Shiraz from Heathcote.”

Fruit was sourced from four vineyards in Heathcote - Newlans Lane, Wildena Estate, Slaughterhouse Paddock and Ellis Vineyards and the wine was matured for 10 months in American oak. Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. The nose is impressive, with lifted blackberry top note followed by spice and vanilla. The palate has plenty of weight and excellent mouthfeel. Flavours of ripe plum and vanilla over blackberry and black pepper. Fine grained tannins, excellent balance. Long blackberry and black pepper aftertaste.
