2006 Cloudy Bay Pelorus Vintage Brut

This excellent New World sparkling was the most 'Champagne-like' of over thirty sparkling wine samples tasted for this edition. Ageing for three years on lees has imparted some additional richness. White creamy mousse that shows excellent hold. Exceptionally fine and very persistent bead. Pale gold base wine colour. The nose displays excellent lift with scents of toast and baked bread as top notes followed by some yeasty characters and a hint of citrus. The palate displays mouthfilling flavours of yeast lees and baked bread followed by some toasty notes and a cashew like finish. Creamy texture. Clean, dry aftertaste of baked bread, yeast lees and cashew.
Drink over the next 4-5 years (2011-2016).
