Bleasdale Vineyards is Langhorne Creek's founding winery and Australia's second oldest family-owned and operated winery, established in 1850 by English migrant Frank Potts. The cellars, constructed from red gum and limestone, house the old red gum vats and some of the equipment used by previous generations. The giant red gum lever press, for example, which was hand-sawn in the 1890's, is well worth a visit if you're touring the region. Over the last few decades the company has resurfaced as a serious producer under the direction of fifth generation members of the Potts family, with Michael Potts as the current winemaker.

Medium body. Crimson colour with crimson mauve hue. Perfumed nose of violet, liquorice, vanilla and plum. The flavours are at their peak, supported by velvet smooth tannins. Flavours of spice, vanilla, confectionary and plum, followed by a spicy black pepper back palate. Aftertaste of plum, spice and liquorice all sorts.
Cellar 1-2 years (2010-2011)
