Balgownie was the perfect model of a boutique winery having been established in 1969 by Stuart Anderson. The demand for Balgownie wines in the mid and late 1970’s was astronomical and any allocation that one received in those ‘good ol’ days’ was counted as a vinous blessing.

The Estate Cabernet has been produced since 1972 with a fair degree of variability. Medium body, crimson colour with crimson mauve hue. Perfumed nose of violets followed by spice and cassis delivering an appealing sniff. The palate disappoints, flavours of stewed fruit and spice are followed by a touch of truffle and dry tannins, which tend to overwhelm the fruit and run well through the aftertaste.
Cellar 1-2 years (2010-2011)
Alc/Vol: 14%
