A big ripping red from Reilly’s

Reilly's started from humble beginnings in 1993 when the first vintage was processed on the front porch of a historical cottage on the property. Over the years the winery has steadily grown, outstripping the capacity of the cottage. Production has now moved to a state-of-the-art facility in nearby Leasingham. The Dry Land Cabernet Sauvignon's fruit is sourced from Reilly’s 44 year old Smyth’s Block vineyard located in the Leasingham district. Yields were extremely low at 2 tonnes per acre which accounts for the wines concentration. The packaging on this wine is quite ordinary, however, it’s what’s inside the bottle that really counts.
We reckon you’d be hard pressed to find a Cabernet for $20 with as much concentration and flavour as this effort from Reilly’s.

Totally opaque, black dark crimson red colour with very deep, dark black red hue. The nose displays lifted scents of ripe blackcurrant and spearmint followed by some dark chocolate and spice notes, showing excellent intensity. Very rich, full and super concentrated, the palate boasts an expansive flavour profile of very ripe blackcurrant, cassis and dark chocolate followed by some mint and spice characters. Two years French oak maturation has provided the wine with excellent structure. Fine grained, slightly firm tannins in perfect balance with the dense volumes of fruit. Superb length with long, persistent aftertaste of ripe blackcurrant, cassis and mint.
