A superb follow up to the 2004 Shiraz.

The vineyard was established in 1955 and is run on strict organic principles, without the use of herbicides, insecticides or irrigation. The vines are planted on sandy loam soils, over quartz and red ironstone gravels. Situated on the eastern extremity of the Heathcote district, the area enjoys a cooler climate than that of Tahbilk and Mitchelton, but not quite the same as Heathcote either. This gives the Shiraz wines its unique qualities.

The colour of this wine is totally saturated black purple and will extract a wow from you. This is the colour that separates Heathcote Shiraz from those of other regions. Intense aroma of dark chocolate and vanilla followed by an explosive sniff of white and black pepper. Very ripe fruit on the palate – plum and blackberry are dominant and very concentrated. Fine grained tannins, perfect balance – very long aftertaste of plum, blackberry and black pepper with fine dry tannins persisting, ensuring a good cellaring proposition, to support the huge fruit.
