Distilled in 2005, this 12 year old Ledaig was finished for 26 months in first fill Hermitage casks sourced from Guigal in the Northern Rhone. There, the red wines are predominately produced from the Shiraz (Syrah) grape. Apart from the obvious ruby-red blush, G&M say the barrels have contributed some sweet Summer berry characteristics, while retaining the lingering smoky edge typical to Ledaig. 4100 bottles produced. 45% Alc./Vol.

Followers of Tobermory will know that Ledaig is actually made at the same distillery, which was in the past known as 'Ledaig', changing its name in the 1970s. The distillery occupies the ground beside the Ledaig Burn on the foreshore of the picturesque 18th century harbour of Tobermory. Closed several times, most recently in the 1980s, Tobermory reopened in 1989 and produces a heavily peated expression under the Ledaig label.
