2005 Clarendon Hills Onkaparinga Syrah

Opaque black crimson purple colour with crimson purple hue, showing excellent cling. Violet top note, followed by vanilla, plum and spice. The palate has an elegance, being dominated by spicy plum and white pepper. Fine grained tannins. Long aftertaste of white pepper, plum and spice.

From a new vineyard site, the 2005 Syrah Onkaparinga could easily be mistaken for a modern-styled Cornas. A dense purple color is followed by aromas of scorched earth, blackberries, graphite, and earth. Give this impressive beast 4-5 years of cellaring, and drink it over the following 15-20.
