2005 Bordeaux has received widespread critical acclaim as one of the greatest vintages in living memory and this has not been restricted to just the classified growths . Many of the lesser known terroirs or appellations have excelled in 2005, Robert Parker stating “…these are some of the finest wine bargains of the world…” Parker describes the wines from such Estates as 'Little Big Ones', adding 'These wines represent many earnest, sincere, over-achieving men and women who are taking unheralded, less prestigious terroirs and turning out brilliant wines...If you are a wine consumer, this is where to spend your money'.
A testament to the overall strength of the 2005 vintage this is a great value entry level Bordeaux that’s evolving beautifully.

Christian Bernard aims to produce wines from 70% Cabernet and 30% Merlot that are highly aromatic. The vines are 25 years old and planted on two distinct soil types, clay limestone and clay gravel. Careful attention is paid to maintaining low, high quality yields. Retasted 26/02/11...
Deep dark crimson red colour with deep dark red hue. The nose delivers a classic refined Bordeaux sniff with aromas of blackcurrant, cedar, mulberry, spice and earth. Medium weight with elegant palate structure displaying flavours of earthy cedar, blackcurrant, cigar box and spice. Fine grained, soft, although still slightly dryish tannin structure. Excellent length with aftertaste of earthy cedar, cigar box and spice.
