Established in 1709, Chateau Filhot consistently produces one of Sauternes best values. Typically, the wine is produced from a blend of 60% Semillon, 36% Sauvignon and 4% Muscadelle with maturation in Allier oak (one third new) for a period of 2-3 years.
This wine reflects perfectly the Filhot style.
Brilliant pale gold colour with straw hue. The nose is relatively restrained at the moment with top note of honey followed by spice and apricot, showing good botrytis character. The palate flavours are superb, there is that magic Filhot juxtaposition behind lightness and flavour intensity. Luscious texture, with flavours of honey and spice over a layer of apricot and tropical fruit, creating a mouthfilling taste. Clean acid finish. Aftertaste of spice, honey, apricot and just a hint of caramel emerging.
Cellar 5-8 years (2013-2016)
Alc/Vol: 14%
Gorgeous aromas of dried pineapple and apricot follow through to a full-bodied palate, with sweet fruit and a long, long finish. Best ever from here?
