A wine displaying power and refinement The terroir of the Geelong district is perfectly suited for the production of outstanding Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The constant wind, and prolonged cool growing conditions allow the fruit to develop slowly over an extended time, resulting in Chardonnay grapes of great flavour concentration. The Chardonnay grapes are grown on the Strathmore Vineyard near Bannockburn, from vines that are now fully mature. The 20 year old vines are located in three sub terroirs (micro terroirs) on the property, resulting in fruit with three quite distinct flavour profiles due to varying picking dates, vine density and winemaking techniques. Winemaker PETER FLEWELLYN has produced a superb example of Chardonnay. A wine displaying power and refinement. Brilliant deep straw colour with pale gold hue. Powerful nose, with top notes of yeast lees, followed by biscuit, melon, hazelnut, spice and fig. An excellent lifted Chardonnay varietal lift. The palate flavours are mouthfilling, with wonderful creamy texture and great length and persistence. Some anise appears, followed by layers of hazelnut and yeast lees. Very long palate flavours and aftertaste, with hazelnut, yeast lees and melon creating a very long after flavour. Cellar 3-4 years (2008-2009) Alc/Vol: 14.0%
