2004 Water Wheel Memsie Sauvignon Blanc Semillon Roussanne

This is a very unusual blend that provides the Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon with additional depth. The Roussanne grape is found in the North Rhone Valley where it is often blended with Marsanne. The variety produces russet brown grapes (from where it gets its name) and displays floral and herbal tea aromas. Its relatively high acid structure allows the wine to age, making it a useful component in blending. An impressive blend.
Bright straw colour with pale straw hue. The nose is intensely aromatic, with notes of ripe gooseberry, tropical fruit and spice emerging. The palate is full bodied, with generous mouthfeel. There is a touch of lemon on the palate followed by flavours of spice, paw paw, mango and gooseberry. Clean acid finish. Long aftertaste of gooseberry and tropical fruit.
