A blockbuster Shiraz from Rutherglen. This is the sort of red that gave Rutherglen its reputation for its ability to produce massive wines that still managed to retain balance. The fruit is very ripe, but as with all the other Warrabilla reds, there is no sense of portiness or jaminess – just "mega ripe fruit from low yielding vines grown in deep red loam soils'. The colour is a total saturation. Opaque black purple with an opacity that one expects to find from a tin of paint. Magnificent nose –aroma of vanilla and violets which is quite pronounced, followed by end notes of blackberry and spice. The palate structure and profile is monumental, yet perfectly balanced. Totally mouthfilling flavours of vanilla, dark chocolate, blackberry, blood plum and violet infusions are supported by fine grained, dry tannins. The wine has excellent length and depth with very long aftertaste of vanilla and blackberry. The fine dry tannins reassert themselves.
