2004 Tyrrell's Vat 47 Chardonnay

Hunter Valley, New South Wales, AUSTRALIA
$36. 99
Bottle
$443.88 Dozen
Cellar: 4 - 5 Years (2010-2011)
ABV: 13%
Closure: Screw Cap

This wine has been fermented on a yeast strain developed by Tyrrell’s since the 1970’s, which in part contributes to the continuity of style of this wine. 25% new oak has been used, with 75% old. The wine has not gone through a malolactic ferment, which has helped to maintain its natural acid level.

Brilliant pale gold colour with straw hue. Sophisticated nose with yeast lees, hazelnut, cashew and biscuit notes emerging, reminiscent of Meursault in style. The palate builds upon the expectation of the nose. Flavours of biscuit, yeast lees and cashew emerge followed by a hint of grapefruit. A wine showing refined complexity. Clean acid finish.
Cellar 4-5 years (2010-2011)
Alc/Vol: 13%

Other Reviews...
Has the finesse one expects from Vat 47; citrus, melon and stone fruit, with well-balanced and integrated oak.
