David Powell was inspired by the dessert wines of Muscat Beaumes de Venice when he made this wine. Bright straw colour with water like hue, relatively light colour providing no sense of what to expect from the nose or palate. Lifted top notes of spice followed by a ‘boiled raisin’ note and honeyed ripe sultana grapes. Luscious mouthfeel with honeyed sultana and spice flavours, however, the palate lacks the power that one finds in the real thing. Spicy back palate, relatively dry finish. Aftertaste of ripe sultana and very ripe peaches.
Cellar 1-2 years (2007-2008)
Alc/Vol: 13.5%
