Sevenhill is the oldest winery in the Clare Valley, established by the Jesuits (Society of Jesus) who migrated from Austria in 1848, seeking a life free from religious and political persecution. Initially the main purpose of the winery was to produce sacramental wine, which still accounts for 30% of its production and is widely exported.

A superb red, with excellent cellaring potential! Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Aroma of liquorice, dark chocolate, spice and blackcurrant with a cedar end note. The palate delivers plenty of flavour. Very spicy flavours are meshed with liquorice allsorts, blackcurrant and cassis. Fine grained tannins. Excellent balance. Very long aftertaste of cassis, spice and liquorice allsorts.
