2004 Samuel's Gorge Shiraz

Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Aroma of liquorice, spice, blackberry and mocha. The palate is tight, but not hard, this appears to be the hallmark of the Samuels Gorge style – placing more of an emphasis on wine structure and balance and consequently abandoning primary fruit flavours in favour of secondary fruit. This is very much a French winemaking attitude. Fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of confectionary, liquorice allsorts and ripe plum.
