2004 Salomon Estate Syrah Viognier

Wow! This is the first wine that we have opened that is sealed with a glass stopper - and yes we tried to make the wine leak out of the bottle after opening, but failed. The seal on the stopper works well.

Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Top note of vanilla, followed by blackberry, liquorice and spice, showing good varietal lift over a dried apricot end note. The palate is drier than expected, displaying a European influence with its dry fine grained tannin structure. Flavours of plum, spice apricot and vanilla emerge. Slightly chalky aftertaste.
