2004 R.L. Buller & Son Calliope Shiraz

A big Rutherglen red, comparable to the giant wines from Warrabilla.
Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Top note of liquorice and cedar followed by spice and black pepper, dark chocolate, plum and prune. On the palate flavours of plum and prune emerge over an explosive dark chocolate background. The flavour profile is complex with ripe plum, plum pudding and raisin cake emerging over a very spicy back palate. There are layers of toasted oak. Fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of plum, raisins and chocolate.
