RWT stands for ‘Red Winemaking Trial’, the name given to the project internally when developmental work began in 1995.The fruit for this wine is sourced from 20 to 100 year-old vineyards located across the west and north-west of the Barossa Valley. The wine was aged for 14 months in a combination of new (69%) and one year old (31%) French oak hogsheads.

Totally opaque black purple colour with black purple hue. Perfumed nose of violets, blackberry and spice, with a hint of vanilla. The palate has excellent structure for the long haul – ripe but not opulent at this stage with plenty of scope to blossom. Flavours of violet infusion, blackberry, spice and vanilla – showing great refinement. Fine dryish tannins - very long aftertaste of spice and vanilla.
Cellar 10-20 years (2017-2027)
Alc/Vol: 14.5%

Other Reviews...
The 2004 Shiraz “RWT” was barrel-fermented and aged for 14 months in 69% new French oak. Opaque purple-colored, it delivers an expressive nose of smoke, leather, grilled bacon, game, blueberry, and licorice. Full-bodied, it is dense, ripe, and layered as well as opulent. More forward than the Magill Estate, this hedonistic Shiraz can be enjoyed now but will continue to evolve for another 8-10 years.
