The quality of recent vintages of Cabernet has improved significantly and heralds the re-emergence of this varietal as the challenger for Shiraz. Regarded as the noblest of the Cabernet family, its loss of favour in recent years has been due to over cropping, which results in green herbaceous flavours, with green hard tannins overpowering the fruit. The disappointment is accentuated with time, as the fruit component of the Cabernet drops and the dry green tannins re-assert themselves and dominate.

This is a superb example of ripe Cabernet fruit.

Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Perfumed top note with violets to the fore, followed by confectionary, cassis, tobacco leaf and blackcurrant. Mouthfilling spicy layers of liquorice allsorts, confectionary, cassis and blackcurrant with subtle cedar oak in the background. Perfect balance, fine grained tannins, very long spicy blackcurrant and liquorice aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years (2011-2012)
