The first vines were planted in 1974 by Graeme Leith and Sue Mackinnon. Low rainfall due to the clouds literally passing the vineyard combined with deep, well drained soils consistently produce highly concentrated wine. Produced from unirrigated vines and matured in American oak. Very deep black purple colour with violet top note, followed by spice and blackberry delivering an impressive lift. The palate has good weight – quite elegant on the palate, much more so than the nose suggests. Fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of blackberry, plum, spice, light liquorice and vanilla.
Cellar 3-4 years (2010-2011)
