2004 is described by Moet as "Plentiful, in excellent health and beautifully ripe", and by all accounts is more subtle and elegant than the 2002. It is a different composition, with less Chardonnay (38% against 51% in 2002) and consequently more room for Pinot Noir and Meunier to express themselves with 33% Pinot Noir and 29% Pinot Meunier. For Vintage Champagne lovers and Moet tragics, it is a good time to stock up as there will be no Grand Vintage in 2005.

This superb vintage Champagne pours well with a white frothy mousse that shows excellent hold. Once dissipated a pale straw coloured base wine is revealed possessing an exceptionally fine and very profuse bead. Classic Champagne sniff with aromas of yeast lees and baked bread dominate followed by a hint of citrus and some brioche. The palate possesses plenty of finesse and good richness with flavours of yeast lees, baked bread and citrus followed by some toast and cashew on the back palate. Clean dry finish. Creamy mouthfeel with long yeast lees, baked bread, toast and cashew aftertaste.
