2004 Marquis Philips Shiraz

Almost opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Aroma of plum, spice, liquorice, blackberry and vanilla followed by a charry end note. The palate has a strong high toast – smoky quality over a liquorice base. The smokiness is very pronounced overriding the fruit. There is a strange sense of bitterness that extends to the lips and persists well into the aftertaste.
