The 2004 Marguet was produced from a blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir. Very elegant and classy now, this vintage will continue to develop. As it stands it is a stunning value given the 100% Grand Cru status.
Exceptional value for Grand Cru Vintage Champagne with this much bottle age
The wine pours with an excellent white creamy mousse showing good hold. Pale straw coloured base wine with exceptionally fne and very persistent bead. The nose displays delicate but refned notes of citrus, biscuit, yeast lees and cashew. Refned palate favours of yeast lees, biscuit, baked bread and cashew with a light citrus overlay delivering great length and persistence. Creamy texture with a clean crisp dry fnish. Very long aftertaste of yeast lees, biscuit, toast and cashew.
Drink over the next 5-6 years (2010-2016)
This is a very enticing price for a wine loaded with the ravishing power of some of Champagne’s greatest grand crus. It’s structured, intense and fleshy, with a linear acid line and chalky mineral texture. An enticing style that confidently manages the precarious balance of arresting concentration and high-tensile structure. Drink 2011-12
