The 2004 Heartland Shiraz was recently awarded the 2005 Advertiser / Hyatt Wine of the Year. Normally we wouldn’t get too excited by such an announcement, (somebody seems to be winning an award somewhere every day) however, when one looks at the line up of judges, then the award takes on additional significance. Chairman John Duval (formerly Penfolds Grange, RWT etc), Stephen Henschke (Hill of Grace etc) Tim Jones (Wirra Wirra), Louisa Rose (Yalumba) and Andrew Wigan (Peter Lehmann). 762 wines were judged, with the Heartland being declared “...a great wine and a clear winner.”

Produced by Ben Glaetzer, of Mitolo & Amon Ra fame, this wine represents amazing value for money.

Made from a blend of Limestone Coast & Langhorne Creek Shiraz the wine was matured in French oak for 16 months. Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Perfumed nose of spice, blackberry and liquorice allsorts. The palate flavours are mouthfilling, revealing a restrained ‘joosy’ quality. Excellent palate weight and length. Flavours of vanilla, plum and spice emerge over a blackberry background. Fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of vanilla, liquorice and plum. Fantastic value.
