The Escarpment Pinot Noir was recently awarded the accolade as both Regional Champion and Overall New Zealand Champion Pinot Noir. Now that’s quite an achievement with wines of the calibre of Ata Rangi being in the line up. Winemaker Larry McKenna has teamed up with Robert Kirby (Co-Chairman of Village Road Show) to establish this Burgundian inspired venture. Located on a 24 hectare parcel of land 15 kilometres east of Martinborough the vineyard is planted to 70% Pinot Noir, whilst the remainder consists of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Pinot Blanc vines. The Pinot has been matured in 100% French Oak, of which 30% is new.

A SUPERB PINOT.

Brilliant crimson mauve colour with mauve hue. Medium body. Superb lifted nose of black cherry, spice and strawberry jam followed by a hint of liquorice. The palate has excellent weight and mouthfeel with flavours of black cherry and spice followed by a hint of strawberry. Velvet texture. Perfect balance. Very long aftertaste of spice, strawberry and cherry.
