Notes sourced from De Bortoli Wines.
A very hot early January was followed by more moderate temperatures up until mid February. Then there was an extremely hot spell with 14 days of temperatures exceeding 35ºC during the day with night temperatures not less than 25ºC. This effectively shut down the vines and paradoxically slowed the ripening. A shower in late February was the last rain to fall until early April. This was followed by heavy fog, providing ideal botrytis conditions in the short term but there was no more rain until late May. A few dews and light frosts gave some moisture to the grapes during this time assisting the further development of botrytis. Approximately 60-70% of the fruit was affected by botrytis. Harvesting began 18th May and was completed by the 2nd June.

46% of the wine was matured in new French oak barriques, 17% in one year old, 16% in two year old French oak barriques and 21% was left unoaked. Bright golden in colour. The nose displays captivating aromas of apricot, nectarine, citrus, almond and vanilla. On the palate the wine displays a complex array of botrytis flavours together with peach, nectarine, zingy citrus, and almond characters. Vanillin oak characters add complexity. Extremely luscious with a lingering finish, the wine nevertheless finishes with balanced fresh acidity. Perfect to drink now or this wine can be cellared for 10-15 years.

A delicious partner to rich cheeses, try with blue cheese or desserts.
