$959.88 Dozen
Cellar: 4 - 5 Years (2023-2024)
ABV: 13.5%

A blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Mazuelo and 5% Graciano. Deeper in colour than the 2001 but with a more subdued nose, the 2004 has a black dark red core and a deep dark red hue. The nose reveals aromas of liquorice, dark plum and earthy leather characters over toasty vanillin oak and spice. Rich dark cherry, dark plum and liquorice flavours greet the palate within a soft round feel. Earthy vanillin oak, leather and spicy pepper characters then move in. Very supple with a slightly dryish finish and velvet smooth tannins. Earthy leather aftertaste of liquorice, dark plum, smoky vanillin oak and spice.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 13.5%

Other Reviews…
2004 was one of the great post-war Rioja vintages, so it’s no surprise that this majestic wines, still available in tiny quantities, is so fresh. Denser and richer than the 2001, it’s wonderfully complex and balsamic, with notes of Asian spices, fresh tobacco and sweet red fruits. 2019 - 2024.
