2003 Terra Moorabool Pinot Noir

This wine has the makings of a very good Pinot, but needs time to evolve. The vines are planted in shallow loam over limestone soils on the banks of the Moorabool River. Bright crimson colour with mauve hue. Lifted, perfumed nose of violets and black cherries creating a good varietal lift. The palate displays moderate length and power at this stage, but will build over time. Flavours of black cherries, liquorice and pepper emerge over a sour cherry background. Very fine, but slightly chalky tannins. Aftertaste of sour cherry, spice and plum.
