Tannat is a grape variety that we do not often experience in Australia, however, is widely grown in the north of Spain and Southern France. The varietal has its origins in the Basque country of France, and is also found in the hilly areas of Bordeaux and is widely planted in Uruguay. The varietal delivers with very firm tannins.

Very deep crimson colour with deep crimson mauve hue. Aroma of chocolate and spice, followed by ripe plum, vanilla, raspberry and cherry. The palate is dry, with the tannins creating a firm chalky grip. Aftertaste of plum, spice and chocolate with the chalky dry tannins persisting.
